Women are more at risk for exposure to crime than men

BISMILLAHIR RAHMANIR RAHIM...

In this era, we are often exposed by the media on a variety of criminal cases which usually involves the female being the victim majority. Crimes that usually are snatch thieve, murder, rape, abandoning babies and so forth. What are the reasons women are more exposed to being the victim of crime rather than men? In this situation, it is fair to say that women are physically too weak and because of what they usually wear.

First and foremost, the main factor women are more at risk of being a crime victim rather than men is because their energy is lesser than men. Basically, the physical body of women created by Allah is much smaller than men. When women are being attacked by a raper, it is easy for her to lose to that raper because the raper is much more aggressive and they tend to take advantage towards their victims. Because of that, Dato’ Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, The Ministry of Women, Families and Communities said according to the statistic from Police Head Office of Royal Malaysia in Bukit Aman statement about rape crime have 908 cases and 851 cases of desecrate for the period January until June 2004, she was inspired to establish a integrated approach with the combination effort from government and private sector and of course from family institutions as well. One of the integrated approach they bring is to encourage women of any ages to learn skills technique of defending themselves. Therefore, women can protect themselves from any harm.

Another reason why women are more at risk to crime than men is because of what they wear. Somewomen’s clothes which are overly exposed thus it can contribute the social sickness as clothing is viewed as a bait to attract men that could lead to the occurrences of pre-marital sex, rape, incest, and others. In this case parents should observe and advice their daughter who likes to wear clothes which are too sexy. In addition, women should be wearing clothes which covers their ’aurah’. According to observations by sociologists, psychologists and educators they agree that looking sexy may be one of the causes of rape incidents. Thus, what women wear can actually cause them to be more exposed to crimes.

In a conclusion, there are two reasons women are more exposed to danger of crimes compared to men which are being physically too weak and because of what they wear. In suggestion, responsibility from parents is important to make sure their daughter to wear clothes that cover their ‘aurah’ properly. Beside that, government should organized a campaign or programme to encourage women to learn skills that could help them to defend themselves. For example, silat and taekwando.

wallahua`alam... =)
